How it works, step by step

Already have a quote? Check it before you sign

Type in what your quote says: the system, its efficiency, your home size, the price and the extras listed. The quote checker compares it with typical Ontario prices for that same scope and tells you whether it looks fair, high or low, and why.

  • Adds the typical cost of each extra on the quote, such as new venting, a condensate pump or duct changes
  • Works with prices before or after 13% HST
  • Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us

What a fair furnace quote costs in Ontario

A gas furnace replacement in Ontario typically costs $4,000 to $8,000 installed, before HST, for a single-stage or two-stage high-efficiency furnace in a detached home with usable ducts and venting. Modulating furnaces, heat pumps and furnace and AC jobs done together cost more.

Single-stage gas furnace (95 to 96% AFUE)
$4,000 to $6,500
Two-stage gas furnace (96% AFUE, ECM blower)
$5,500 to $8,000
Modulating gas furnace (97 to 98% AFUE, variable-speed blower)
$7,000 to $11,000
Whole-home ducted cold-climate heat pump
$9,000 to $18,000
New furnace and central AC in one job
$8,000 to $15,000

Typical Ontario prices in CAD, before 13% HST. Reviewed October 2026. Ranges, not quotes.

What moves the number

  • Equipment tier. Single-stage, two-stage or modulating, plus the brand line. The tier changes the price more than anything else on the quote.
  • Venting. Moving from an old chimney to new PVC venting, or rerouting it, typically adds $300 to $1,500.
  • Ductwork. Short transitions are normal and usually included. Bigger duct changes run $500 to $3,000+ extra.
  • Access and timing. Tight closets, attic or crawlspace installs and the first cold weeks of fall can affect labour and how soon you can be booked.

Add 13% HST to every range on this site. A $6,000 furnace quote is $6,780 with tax.

Questions about getting a quote

Straight answers about the request, the call and the prices on this site. There is more in the full FAQ.

Is it free to get a quote?

Yes. Sending a request is free, and the in-home estimate for a new or replacement system is free with no obligation. You pay only if you hire the company and sign a contract. Repairs work differently: most companies charge a diagnostic or service call fee, typically $100 to $200 in Ontario, and should tell you that fee before they come.

Who will call me after I send the form?

Our booking team calls to confirm your answers and book a time for the free in-home estimate. It can be an automated or AI-assisted call. The estimate itself is done in person by one participating local HVAC company that serves your area. The call may come from a number you do not recognise, so keep your phone nearby.

How fast will I hear back?

The booking call usually comes within minutes of sending the form. When the estimate happens depends on you and the company's schedule. Requests marked urgent (no heat or no cooling) are flagged that way. In the first cold weeks of fall and during summer heat waves, schedules fill quickly, so it pays to plan a replacement before your old system fails.

Who gets my information, and how is the site paid for?

Your request goes to our booking team and one participating local HVAC company. Participating companies fund the site by receiving requests like yours. We do not send your details to data brokers or to other contractors, and we do not rent or trade lists. You can opt out whenever you like. Our privacy policy explains what we collect, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.

Are the prices on this site real quotes?

No. They are typical installed ranges for Ontario, reviewed October 2026, in Canadian dollars before 13% HST. They are built from prices that Ontario contractors publish, manufacturer and distributor list-price guidance and the scope of a typical install. They show whether a quote is in the normal zone. Your actual price comes in a written quote after the in-home visit, and depends on your home, venting, ductwork, brand and season.

Does FurnaceQuotes.ca install furnaces?

No. We are not an installer, and we do not sell or service equipment. A participating local HVAC company does the estimate and, if you hire it, the work. Gas appliance work in Ontario is limited to TSSA-registered contractors, so ask for the registration number. We do not certify, license or inspect any company, which is why our tools help you check a quote yourself.
