Your call
You decide, no pressure
Compare it with our typical ranges and quote checker. Say yes, ask questions or walk away.
Step 1: the one-minute request
The quote form at the top of the FurnaceQuotes.ca home page asks one question per screen, about a minute in total. A best guess is fine for every answer.
| We ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What you need | A replacement quote and a repair visit are different appointments. Not sure gets you a straight answer on repair or replace. |
| Which system | Tells the company what to plan for and bring. |
| What heats your home now | Switching fuel or adding a heat pump can add gas line, venting or electrical work. |
| Home type | Townhouses and condos can limit where venting and outdoor units go. |
| Approximate size | A first hint at capacity, not a heat loss calculation. Skipped for repairs. |
| Timeline | Urgent no-heat or no-cooling requests are marked urgent. |
| Postal code | Matches you with a company that serves your area. City and street are optional. |
| Name, phone and email | So the booking team can reach you to book the visit. |
We never ask for your budget, your income or a credit card.
Step 2: a quick booking call
Shortly after you send the request, our booking team calls the number you gave. It can be an automated or AI-assisted call. It confirms what you need and books a time for the in-home estimate that suits you. You may also get an email.
Have these handy for the call
- The age of the current system, or the model number from the rating plate inside the furnace door
- Times when an adult who can make decisions is home
- Notes for the technician: pets, parking, a finished basement
No heat right now?
Choose Urgent: no heat or no cooling so your request is marked urgent, and say so on the call. Our furnace repair page covers what to check first. If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the home and contact your gas utility's emergency line or emergency services from outside.
Step 3: the free in-home estimate
A participating local HVAC company visits, checks your equipment and the house around it, and gives you a written quote. The visit is free.
A glance at the old furnace is not an estimate. Read how a load calculation works so you know what to ask for.

What a thorough visit checks:
Your current equipment
Age, model, capacity, condition and any safety concern, such as a cracked heat exchanger.
Venting
High-efficiency furnaces vent through PVC pipe. An orphaned gas water heater in the old chimney may need a liner.
Ductwork
Supply and return sizes and sealing. Undersized returns make new equipment noisy and less efficient.
Electrical and gas supply
A heat pump or AC needs a dedicated circuit, sometimes a panel upgrade. A bigger appliance may need gas line work.
A heat loss calculation
Room-by-room sizing under CSA F280, the Canadian method. "Same size as the old one" is a guess.
Gas work in Ontario
In Ontario, only a TSSA-registered contractor, using certified gas technicians, may install or repair gas appliances. Ask for the company's TSSA registration number and the technician's certificate before work starts. We do not certify, license or inspect any company.
Step 4: your written quote, and how to check it
Ask for it in writing: brand, model numbers, efficiency, capacity, each add-on as its own line, warranty terms and the price before HST. For reference, a standard single-stage gas furnace typically costs $4,000 to $6,500 installed before HST.

You owe nothing for the request or the estimate, and you do not have to accept the quote. To stop calls or emails, tell the booking team or the company, or see our privacy policy to opt out or have your details deleted.
If you sign a contract at home
Ontario's Consumer Protection Act generally gives you a 10-day cooling-off period to cancel a contract signed in your home, starting the day you receive a written copy. Some costs can apply if you asked for installation to start sooner. Ontario's rules for home service contracts
What we do and do not do
What we do
- Pass your request to one participating local HVAC company.
- Arrange the booking call for your free in-home estimate.
- Publish typical Ontario price ranges, reviewed October 2026, and explain how we compile them.
- Offer free tools and a Quote Guide to judge any quote, from anyone.
What we do not do
- We do not install, service or repair equipment. The company that visits does the work.
- We do not certify, license or inspect companies. Ask for the TSSA registration number yourself.
- We do not quote prices. Our ranges are typical estimates, not a quote for your home.
- We do not charge you for the request or the estimate.

Questions about the process
The practical details people ask about before they book.
Does someone need to be home for the estimate?
Yes. The company needs to see the furnace, venting, ductwork, electrical panel and where any outdoor unit would go. Ideally everyone who decides is there, so you all hear the options once and can ask questions on the spot.
What if I already have a quote from another company?
That is a good reason to get a second one. Run it through the quote checker first, and mention on the booking call that you want a like-for-like comparison. Sharing the scope, not the price, helps the second company quote the same job.
Can I change or cancel the appointment?
Yes. Tell the booking team or the company, and they can move or cancel the visit. The request and the estimate are free, so cancelling costs you nothing. If you would rather not hear about the request again, say so.
