Privacy policy

Plain-language answers on what we collect when you request a quote, who receives it and the choices you have.

In plain terms

  • We collect what you type into the quote form, plus a few details about how you reached it.
  • Your request goes to one participating local HVAC company and our booking team, so they can book a free in-home estimate. The call can be automated or AI-assisted.
  • Participating companies fund the site by receiving requests. We do not send your details to data brokers or other contractors.
  • No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, and opt out at any time.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how FurnaceQuotes.ca ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through furnacequotes.ca, mainly through the quote request form. We follow the principles of Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA): collect only what a request needs, say why, ask for consent, and let you see and correct what we hold.

Once a participating company has your request, it also handles your information under its own privacy practices.

What you tell us in the quote form

  • Your name, phone number and email address.
  • Your postal code, your city or town, and your street address if you choose to add it.
  • Your answers to the form's questions: what you need (install, repair or not sure), the system, your current heating fuel, the type and rough size of your home, and your timeline.

Nothing leaves your browser until you select Request My Free Quote. Answers you start but never send are not sent to anyone.

Details sent along with your request

To route your request and show where it came from, the form adds:

  • The page and page title where you sent it, and the page where your visit started.
  • The referring website, if your browser shares it.
  • Campaign tags in the link you followed (UTM parameters) and ad click IDs (gclid, msclkid, fbclid), if the link had them.
  • The date and time you sent it, and the exact consent text you agreed to.

Like any website, the servers that deliver our pages and receive the form also see technical details such as your IP address and browser type. We use those only to run the site, keep it secure and stop abuse.

Why we use it

  • To pass your request to one participating local HVAC company that serves your area.
  • So our booking team can contact you to confirm the details and book a free in-home estimate. The call can be automated or AI-assisted.
  • To flag urgent requests, such as no heat in winter, so they can be handled sooner.
  • To document when you agreed to be contacted, and any later request to stop.
  • To stop spam and abuse of the form.
  • To learn which pages and ads bring in requests, using only the details sent with each request, never analytics.

We do not use your information for anything unrelated to your request without asking you first.

This sentence appears above the submit button. Selecting Request My Free Quote means you agree to it:

Agreeing is not a condition of buying anything. You can withdraw consent at any time, and we keep a record of when you gave it.

Who receives your request

  • One participating local HVAC company. It receives your request so it can contact you, visit your home and give you a quote. We send each request to one company, not to a list of buyers.
  • Our booking team and its service providers. These are the form processing, calling, email and hosting services used to handle requests. They get only what they need to provide those services.
  • Others, only where the law requires it, for example a valid legal demand, or to protect someone's safety.

Participating companies fund the site by receiving requests like yours. We do not send your details to data brokers or to other contractors, and we do not rent or trade lists of people who used the form.

Calls, emails and opting out

Phone. Our booking team or the participating company may call the number you give. Calls may be automated or AI-assisted, and may be recorded or transcribed so the booking details are right. Say on any call that you want no more calls about your request, and they stop.

Email. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) sets rules for commercial email, including a working way to unsubscribe in every message. Use the unsubscribe link in any email about your request, or reply to it asking to stop, and the opt-out takes effect within 10 business days, as CASL requires.

No cookies, analytics or tracking pixels

FurnaceQuotes.ca does not set cookies. We use no analytics service, advertising pixel, heat map or session recording, and our pages load no third-party scripts: the fonts and images come from our own site. Links to other sites, such as official rebate pages, are ordinary links, and those sites have their own privacy policies.

What is stored in your browser

A few features keep information on your own device instead of in a cookie:

Session storage belongs to one browser tab and is cleared when you close it. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it.

The other tools calculate in your browser and do not send what you enter. You can clear this storage at any time in your browser settings.

How long requests are kept

We keep a quote request only as long as we reasonably need it: to handle it, answer questions about it and keep a record of your consent or opt-out. Then we delete it or remove the details that identify you. A company that gives you a quote keeps its own records, for example for a contract or warranty, under its own policies.

Your rights and how to use them

You can:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and how it has been used and shared.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to calls or emails at any time.
  • Ask us to delete your request where we are not required by law to keep it.

Reply to any email you received about your quote request, or tell our booking team on any call, that you are making a privacy request. Say what you would like us to do, and give the name, phone number and email you used on the form so we can find your request.

We may ask you to confirm a detail before we act, to protect your information. We answer within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires, and tell you if we need more time. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Contact us about privacy

Our Privacy Officer is accountable for how FurnaceQuotes.ca handles personal information, including requests to see, correct or delete it and complaints about how we handled it. To reach the Privacy Officer, reply to any email you received about your quote request, or tell our booking team on any call, and say you have a privacy request. This works for anyone, including someone whose number was entered by another person.

We do not publish a phone number or a separate inbox. Privacy requests are answered within 30 days.

Keeping your request secure

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS, and the form sends your request over an encrypted connection. Our pages use a strict security policy that blocks scripts from other websites. Only the people and services that handle requests can see them. No method of sending or storing data is perfectly secure, which is one more reason the form asks only for what a quote needs.

Where your information is processed

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Ontario or outside Canada, for example in the United States. Information held there is subject to that country's laws, and its authorities may be able to access it.

People under 18

The quote form is for homeowners and adults responsible for a home. The form is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly accept their information. If you think a young person sent a request, reply to any email you received about your quote request, or tell our booking team on any call, and we will delete it.

When this policy is updated

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the dates at the top. If a change affects information we already hold, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it. See also our terms of use and about page.
